What are the benefits of being represented by South Coast Nannies?
South Coast Nannies was founded by a nanny. For this reason, South Coast Nannies many systems and procedures are based on Formal Child Care Settings. Ratios, Forms, our Risk Management Strategies are designed to be used as a tool to help create a safer environment for the nannies, families and local businesses.

Does it cost to join your Agency?
No, it is illegal for nannies to be charged to join an agency. It is FREE to apply and work for the Agency.
What is the minimum requirements to become a Nanny with the agency?
For any applicant to be accepted certain requirements need to be met, our selection criteria is:
- Two years prior experience working with children and/or one year solid experience may be accepted for Babysitting if you are working towards or completing Child Care or early childhood qualifications.
- Child Care qualifications are highly desirable
- Must be 18 years or older
- 4 contactable phone references – 2 work related and 2 character.
- Hold current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Qualification
- Current identification (100 point check)
- Working with Children Check
- Current drivers’ license and own car
- Applicants must be an Australian Resident
Why do I need a first aid certificate and working with children check?
We require theses documents from you in order for you to be approved to accept assignments and positions. These documents are also required before we can engage you with the Agency. A valid working with children check and current first aid is a prerequisite.
Do I need Insurance?
Yes – we strongly recommend that all nannies take out Public Liability insurance caring for young children is a high risk occupation we recommend Nannysure . It takes a split second for an accident to occur and you could be held responsible. NannySure’s Liability policy is designed for your industry and provides you with peace of mind should you be held responsible for personal injury or property damage.
Public Liability Insurance covers you for all eventualities with the children in your care as you can be held legally liable. Even the smallest of accidents such as falling off the chair and sustaining a head injury. If you are considered to be responsible through negligence when the accident happened, you could find yourself having to front substantial damages.
For Wedding and Event Services Nannies will be covered by the Agency.
How much do I get paid?
For casual babysitting assignments you will be paid $24 an hour by the client at the end of the night.
For wedding and event services you will be paid between $22 – $25 an hour depending on your nanny level and role. Team Leader rates are higher.
For permanent placements the nannies rate will depend on two things the families budget and what the nannies will accept for the job at hand and their expected hourly rate. Usually the rate can range from $18 to $25 an hour this of course depends on the nannies experience and expectations of the position and age of the children.
How do I get paid?
For casual babysitting services you will be paid by the client at the end of the assignment. For wedding and event services you will complete a timesheet and this will be paid into your nominated bank account every Thursday.
Where are your jobs located?
Our jobs are located throughout the South Coast. The Nanny Application form will ask for the areas in which you wish to work.
How many children would I be responsible for?
We have a 1:4 ratio and lower for babies and group bookings. Our Nannies are safely matched to the number of children and the ratios are a combination of legislative standards and our experience of providing quality care and we share the importance of children’s safety, welfare, happiness and wellbeing.
What would be my responsibilities?
Responsibilities vary widely from job to job, depending on the age of the children their specific needs and the particular requirements set by the parents. As a Babysitter you may need to provide a meal or snack for the children, entertain and engage the kids in activities and will also be responsible for following through with the family’s bedtime routine.
For each Assignment you will have a clear understanding of your responsibilities for the night, parents contact details, defined expectations and in-depth information of the needs and routine of the children in your care. The Assignment Information will help you understand how to carry out each of your responsibilities so you are not left guessing on your own.
What should I do if a family asks if I am available to babysit/nanny for them again?
Never are you to agree to any private bookings that have been organised directly between you and the client. If a client would like for you to babysit/nanny for you again, please ask them to include your name in the booking section on their form section when they make their booking, or to email in their request. If a client contacts you directly, please inform South Coast Nannies immediately. If we find out that you have been taking client bookings privately you will be immediately suspended and no longer have access to South Coast Nannies group and services.
